Water Conservation
SOLUTION MUST START WITH EDUCATING ALL

The South Florida Water Management District is calling for water conservation; I say take it a step further and educate Floridians about this indispensable resource. Let the Sunshine State set precedent for others to follow.

It often takes a natural disaster to make people band together, simply because disasters do not discriminate. Let us not wait for a severe drought to unite us under a common goal

BROTHERS IN THE NAME OF THE LORD
BROTHERS IN THE NAME OF THE LORD

By the Rev. Pedro Corces St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church

041210miamithanksgiving1_01The holiday season is a special time in the lives of our families, churches, mosques and synagogues. Gratitude flows easier than ever from our hearts during the season as we start reviewing another year that's approaching its end.

This past Thanksgiving Day was more than special at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church is Weston. It was unique. It was different.  Our founding pastor, the Rev. Paul Edwards, who passed away this past April, had started a beautiful ecumenical relationship with other faith traditions in our community.

Religious groups take up environmental cause, unite on climate change

Faithful must set an example for peace
Recently a lone gunman entered the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and began shooting. He killed one woman and injured several others. He reportedly identified himself as an American Muslim and told a witness he was upset by 'what was going on in Israel.' In Detroit, a pro-Israeli driver tried to run over an Arab demonstrator at a rally. And the Jewish community in South Florida suffered four acts of vandalism -- two against synagogues and two against businesses.

As a person of conscience, I denounce the senseless attack in Seattle and offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of those killed and injured. I also express my sympathies to the Jewish community in South Florida who suffered from the recent vandalisms.
